Life is anything but linear…so we talk about “highs and lows.” And all of us, at one point or another, go through valleys, necessary transitions before reaching the mountain’s summit…Have you ever noticed this? These “lows” are inevitable, but we go through them in good company. That’s what the Bible reminds us here: “The Lord is my shepherd … Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me…” (see Psalm 23:1-4, NLT)
What’s your valley? Could it be an incurable disease or suffering? Financial difficulties, debts? Or perhaps sadness, loneliness? Or a family problem, a feeling of rejection?
Don’t be concerned about the shadows in the valley. You’re going to walk through it fearing no evil because your Savior is walking with you. Let Him reassure you today, and receive all His words with faith:
- I am with you…always, even to the end of the age. (see Matthew 28:20)
- I love you…with an everlasting love; with unfailing love I have drawn you to Myself. (see Jeremiah 31:3)
I lead you…upon the heights; I make you as surefooted as a deer. (see Habakkuk 3:19)
I’m taking care of you…so much so that I carry you in My arms. (see Isaiah 40:11)
I guard you…from predators, from your enemies (see Psalm 91:1-2)
I won’t abandon you…rely on Me. (see Joshua 1:5)
I wipe away every tear…I comfort you; I bandage your wounds. (see Revelation 21:4)
Beyond the valley, God has planned new summits for you, new victories, and new horizons.
While your back is bowed in the valley and you see nothing…remember that God is the good Shepherd. His rod and staff comfort you. He invites you now to lift your head again to see the horizons from where you’re standing.
Believe that God will soon lead you out of the valley to beautiful summits, in the name of Jesus!
Have a wonderful day in the company of the Good Shepherd.
