Life presents us with a host of challenges that no one can escape, believer or unbeliever alike. But when you’re a child of God, it makes a huge difference, as the Bible emphasizes here: “…When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” (read Isaiah 43:2, NLT)
As a natural element, fire is generally considered to be a threat with huge destructive potential, as the state of California recently experienced: fires destroyed, unfortunately, an entire city.
But fire plays another role that’s difficult to recognize: it contributes to the spreading of a certain kind of tree’s seeds. Some types of pines are one example. When exposed to heat, the pine cones burst, spreading seeds that were well-protected behind hard, thick coverings into the atmosphere.
The Lord understands that the trials you’re going through can immerse you in sadness. He’s moved by your sorrow and pain. He also knows which “heat” to apply to your life to release the best that’s lying dormant inside of you.
Now here’s some good news for you. The fire of the trial will not destroy you because:
- It’s necessary to refine you. (read Isaiah 48:10)
- It pushes you into God’s presence. (read Psalm 57)
- It’s a springboard that the Lord uses to elevate you to another level, like helping others. (read 2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
You are not alone. God is there in the furnace, like He was for Daniel and his friends. And He will never allow you to be tested beyond what you can bear. (read 1 Corinthians 10:13) You won’t be destroyed…no! For you are filled with a spirit of strength, courage, and power.
Let’s pray together…“Father, thank You for standing in the midst of the trials that I’m going through. I trust You; not only will You bring out the best through them, but they will make Your glory shine forth. Thank You for always causing everything to work together for my good. In Jesus’s name, amen.”
When you walk through the fire, you’re led towards the extraordinary that God has for you!
Be filled with His strength today!
